The Jackson and Perkins research center is just outside Somis California near the coast. Most modern roses, even some heirloom varieties, will bloom all summer if properly groomed. Roses are heavy feeders amd it takes a lot of energy to produce those large and magnificent blooms. Find hardy roses where the surviving roots enable plants to rejuvenate as the same plant variety, rather than the rootstock variety, after a hard freeze. Jackson & Perkins began selling roses before the turn of the century, and they are now the company's main garden product.
